For June 2025 after my return from Germany (Visa run) we plan to do "something" in Ladakh. This time it will include a "Jimny" Suzuki Jeep, car owned by the boyfriend of one of the participants. The advantage is: no luggage on the bike, extra fuel in the car and in case of emergency we do not have to rely on luck to get a ride to the next hospital. As usual bunch of peple have announced they are interested - but then again like last time, I guess we will end up with very much fewer.
However, everybody is welcome to join. If you don't know how to ride we do a quick 3-day intro here.

The route is not yet fixed but will very likely include the Manali Leh bit. we still have half a year to figure out the details.

4 month later: OMG, the response is overwhelming ...

Marketing, tricky business, perhaps you sponsor an influencer?
Works for some!

we are not making any money with this, so there is no question of sponsorship.
its just an assembly of guys who travel the same route for some time.
if nobody else is interested I am doing it on my own - as I have done so often before, actually that is my preferred way of travel.

it seems my plans for this tour before september are pretty much foiled. Not the least because of delivery delays for the scram 440 but mainly because of the weather. we are getting one disaster report after the other, the latest from yesterday reading:

As per info from Mandi Police , Mandi - Kullu National Highway is severely damaged at 7th Mile & near Pandoh Dam, it might take 2 weeks to open again

not letting off - still flash floods and land slides everywhere.
So much rain even RE finds it necessary to warn the community not to start the engine once your bike was under water, they send a text messages to all customers:

Hope you & your family are safe & doing well. We are with you in these tough times. Please do not try to crank or kick start the engine if the motorcycle is submerged in water to avoid engine damage. Please call us at Royal Enfield Roadside Assistance at 18002100007 & for information view https://royalenfield.cc/ENFILD/Dr4Cd Stay Home. Stay Safe.

Got to be the longest and one of the worst monsoon seasons ever. this is local weather for tomorrow:

What, they dont work underwater?

That makes it a Real Adventure

Well, staying overnight in the middle of nowhere at single digit plus degrees in pouring rain is inconvenient in a car but potentially lethal on a bike.

Like I said, the Adventure of a Lifetime ;)
The last one!

There seems to be no letting off of this horrible monsoon season, even into September which is highly unusual:

Great thing about climate change is the new Lakes and Rivers, perhaps inhabit Mars has something going for it.

the trip is definitely cancelled. there are still heavy rains forecast for the coming days and the situation today around Manali is absolutely devastating. switch to english subs, the automatic translation is quite good:

Fit a snorkel to the airbox, it's only a bit of water

The weather is not letting up. major flooding even in Dehradun and Rishikesh. Our "reserve" plan to just visit Manali on 22nd is in question as well, we will decide on Sunday with the latest road and weather info.
This is really depressing.

The thuderstorm yesterday night killed a few transformers so half the city has no electricity - including me. My battery is on 50%, future is looking dark LOL.

I have decided to purchase a small generator to have at least enough for Internet/computer and other life relevant gadgets.
