Just ordered a Scram 440 (Scram 440 discussion)

I've seen a pic of the ECU and Throttle Body ( made in India)ECU looked externaly like the early Himalayan

For motorcycles, there is a Euro 5+ (or sometimes called 5b) standard introduced around 2024–2025, which refines durability and diagnostics but keeps the same emission limits as Euro 5.

Well, Europe is known for overwhelming burocracy and underwhelming performance 😂

No Hunter, Indian market spec

please do. Interesting. My BS6 was one of the first in 2021 and it already had the TB/ECU combo. I am not aware of any BS6 that actually have still the seperate eCU/TB. Is this something you heard or is this something you have actually seen? In my understanding the hardened ecu is part of the BS6 gig but I may be wrong.
recently i was on quest to exchange my 2022 with 2020/2021 low mileage models, and during that process, I have seen several 2020 himi with separate ecu and TB and few 2021 models with fused tb and ecu, and separate ecu/tb. so i think all models rolled out the factory line in 2022 were fused variants, minus GPS sensor and tripper navigation as standard.

pretty sure you are wrong on this one.
the 440 has considerable more torque in low revs, but it ALSO reaches top speed of 120kmh much faster when compared to BS6 411.
you cant have it both ways. if you reduce the sprockets, you get the torque but you#ll miss on top speed.
obviously with shorter gearing top speed will be reduced but will improve acceleration, and taller gearing doesn't increase top speed as its limited by RPM limiter, it just pulls back the rev for the higher speeds at the expense of acceleration. i.e my sweet spot is 80kmph in 4th gear, that's just around 4300 rpm on 15t sprocket. but with 16t i m easily able to achieve 80kmph in fourth gear around 4000 rpm, but my acceleration of 1st gear has taken a hit.

So, what i was saying is considering the fact that why 440 feels peppy is the fact that (a) it has 2nm more sure, but that some what gets hampered by weight increase of 2kg, the snappy nature has more to do with 14t sprocket and lower revolution of the 19inch front compared to 21inch Himalayan. less travel suspension in front also affects how bike accelerates.

So what I m trying to say is.. people who already has 2022 bs6 Himi411 they can get the same acceleration performance if they put the scram 440 14t sprocket onto h411 compared to 15t,. although the dynamics with 21inch wheel will feel somewhat different and also the midrange around 4000 rpm on scram will better the improvement could be under second of faster acceleration.

So in conclusion my theory is and my upgrade path for 2022 411 is, instead of investing more in getting 440, if I reduce rolling mass, lighter wheels/chain sprocket, shave of few Kg's, add HT B-cam and fuel x pro, stage 2 air filter, and free flow slip-on exhaust. I might be able to get the acceleration that was on 15t on to 16t sprocket. and hopefully down the line, if all the ports match, I might try to get a 440 ecu assuming AFR on that will be on richer side due to increased capacity which might benefit bs6 411 which runs leans AF

lets see how it goes.

Different strokes for different folks like different builds for different Countries?
I remember seeing a South American Country delivered Himalayan 411 and it was like between E4 and E5 going by the Cat position and TB

Going lighter is a definite improvement,
But going by the results from my 443cc build which had almost 50% more power than a stock 411 I would leave the running gear alone and work on the engine.
And have a big Breakfast :ROFLMAO:

2021 was they year it changed so there may well be 2021 models with separate ecu but they would be BS4 then
yeah exactly bs6 was introduced in 2020 that has separate ecu/tb. so it will be interesting to see if redbox works with these models!, redesigned 2021 has few separate tb/ecu unit maybe a left over inventory. And I think for 2022 besides compass and seat upgrade there is fuel map upgrade. coz when i visited service center to enquire about it, the guy mentioned which year update is pending. according to that they will update to the latest one. which is the scram 411 variant.

I just learnt that indeed there have been bs6 with separate ecu, what can I say, that's news to me...

BS6 Phase 1 (2020 – Early 2021): Separate Units

In the early BS6 models (often called the "Tripper-less" or early Tripper models), the ECU and Throttle Body were separate components.

bs6 was introduced in 2020
Right, I thought it was 2021 but it was April 20 already. Must have been the few where racedynamics had PT3 developed for, that never really worked. I have one of those lying around.

I might try to get a 440 ecu
We did try that. there is a thread about it somewhere. the issue is the second o2 sensor of the 440 that is missing in the 411 so the yellow engine light will burn all the time.

Although I sm not aware of a Pt4 for the 440, the new Classic 650 has the 4 O2 sensors and now there is a Pt4 for them.

Cant be very good if the MIL light stays on, have they updated it recently?

One thing I can already say, the 440 has inherited the crappy gear switch from its ancestors. Particularly annoying when you have to come to a quick stop in 6th, then struggle to get to 1st when traffic starts again immediately. The guerrilla shines here.

Yes my 440 (81mm)was superior in every way to the RE offering :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
They would look silly if they knew how much I got from a LS410 ;)
