I have a 2021 Himalayan 411 Euro 4 with 477 big bore kit, HT-b Performance Camshaft, dna open air breather, carburetor conversion, rejetting, performance exhaust, and 16T front sprocket. It is currently in a professional show having everything installed at once. The bike has about 7000 miles on it. How should i break it in and what kind of performance should i see? I have only rode it completely stock will i notice a big difference?

carburetor conversion
I would love to know how you implemented the carb conversion. if you only change the throttle body for a carb your bike will run very badly, if you have used the Hitcocks conversion set it will run great. Or maybe you figured out something yourself?

it was done by the previous owner and it was the kit from Hitchcocks. When i ordered the 477 and Cam you guys sent new jets with it. I have ridden the bike with the carb conversion for the last 2 years and it has run great with no issues.

a professional shop is doing the upgrade from you guys and has reported to me the bike is running great with the upgrades. I am out of town for 2 more weeks so i will get to test it myself when i get home

you can expect around 30-33HP, I cant say anything more precise bc I only have experience with "real" carb Himas (BS3 version) which where in this range. I suspect the Hitchcock conversion is very similar.

thanks that's great. The shop said it runs great but they never drove it before so i am pretty pumped up to see how it performs

The reason I never bought the new 450 is that the 477 remains a low rpm plenty of torque bike, whereas the new models all have the Japanese disease, no power under 3000rpm. I did buy the Guerrilla which has the same engine as the 450 Himalayan, but I am selling it now - exactly for that reason. I you drive off-road or in the mountains or both as in my case, the "old" single is unbeaten IMO.

I have a farm i ride on and trails around home. My farm is 12 miles from home and i use the bike everyday to check on the farm. That is why i purchased it then i liked it so much i wanted to make it more highway friendly and still maintain the trail abilities. I have a second bike for long highway rides 2025 Honda Rebel 1100. Thanks for all your help.

BTW: your BS4 carb is superior compared to the BS3 bc that one had an unfixable flaw, the alternator burns out after 8-10k km because the insulation was miscalibrated. I went thru 4 alternators in my first BS3 before I sold it. Pretty bad if the burn out happens in the middle of nowhere and all you have left is a half empty battery to get you to a shop. Major range anxiety LOL !!

i have another quick question. Living is South Louisiana it is hot pretty much all year so we really have year round riding. I am not cheap and i am not looking for the most economical choice i wan the best choice for reliability. What oil is the best for hot weather with these performance upgrades? Should i use 15W-50 or 20W-50?

Ultimately as long as its full synth it make little difference. the low number shows the oils capability to flow in cold temp, so 20 is fine. but both are similar in quality and long life. if you change every 5k km you will be on the super save side.

I reckon the best oil is new, so increased change intervals may balance out how much you spend on oil.
Bigger oil cooler may help also.
This engine has a roller bearing crankshaft so oil is not as critical as the twins with plain bearings.
