477 Red Box Maps for Emissions compliance?

Hi folks,

I'm considering going with the 477, Tec cam and Red box. (TEC cam because my research tells me it's quieter and less aggressive, but I'm open to correction).

My hesitation is that I live in France and now motorcycles are subject to safety and emissions testing. It is, however, only once every 3 years. I am tempted to go for it even if there is no solution except revert to stock every 3 years... but I am wondering... would it be possible to map the red box (temporarily of course) plus some other light modifications to give the machine a fighting chance of passing the emissions test, once every 3 years? It's a 2021 Euro 4 machine.

Well, at least here the BS4 with red box pass the Indian emission tests (mandatory yearly or even 6 monthly, depending on age of the bike) without problems. BS4 is equivalent to Euro4 (its actually a carbon copy, the Indians took the easy route to just copy it instead of doing their own research).
The test procedures could be different but here a sensor is stuck into the exhaust and a computer reads out the values. You get a printout which you have to carry along with the insurance and ownership papers.

In any case you COULD just make the engine extremely lean for the test parcour and later just change back. As the red box allows for 4 different maps you could switch to the lean test map before the test is done and back right after (a bit like VW did with their Diesel engines LOL).

Regarding the CAM, afaik our cams are manufactured to better quality, at least when compared to early TEC models, we had one and it did not look to convincing, but ask @Dool, he did the comparison way back when. Functionally they should be very similar afaik.
There is this special offer in the shop where you basically get the cam for free if you buy the complete set with red box and BB kit.

Afaik the Euro 5 was introduced in May 2020 in Germany so pls make sure yours REALLY is a BS4. Just check if your ECU is a separate Unit or if it is glued to the Throttle Body. If it is separate you are sure its a BS4.

Thanks @sam2019. I'm 100% sure it's a Euro 4. Yeah, I'm looking at that kit alright. I suppose I can go with the HT-b cam and see how it goes... if for some reason I think I need the Tec cam after that, I can always go and get that. Thanks again - really useful info!
